145 years ago, a dozen people filled with faith and conviction in the power of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, began what is now the Military Street Baptist Church in Houlton, Maine.
Today, a growing and thriving congregation continues the legacy with faith and conviction and joy for being involved in God’s mission.

To keep up with the growth and demands of 21st century mission and ministry, the Military Street Baptist Church is building a new mission and worship center designed for the many and various facets of reaching the community, the area, and the world for Christ.

The theme of “more space for more stories” of God’s saving and loving grace has emerged in view of the 46 acres with which the Lord has entrusted to us.

With our community in mind, phase one of the “City on a Hill” project includes the 600 seat multi-purpose worship center which will be able to host conventions, banquets, indoor sport events, gatherings for youth and senior citizens, as well as regional Christian gatherings, concerts, discipleship events, and weekly praise, prayer and worship.
An industrial-sized kitchen will assist in food production for banqueting or receptions.

Space for nursery, nursery school and children’s needs is being set aside, with more to come.  A coffee shop will encourage fellowship and a place to relax.
Three multi-purpose classrooms will be able to accommodate Christian Education for youth and adults, and can become a small chapel for prayer, smaller weddings, funerals and receptions.

While members and friends have generously underwritten much of the cost for this project, there are some special needs which still remain to complete phase one.

Our commemorative bricks will be a very special way to honor or memorialize loved ones and family members, and will form a special presentation within the new project.

Your generous donation will be so helpful in assisting us to complete this first phase, but even more, will be an investment in God’s love being poured out to many more people.

Thank you, and may God bless you!
